Editing Issue fields

Apart from editing Issue’s dependencies, Gantt Cloud allows you to edit the following Issue fields directly from the chart:

  • Start date

  • Due date / end date

  • Time estimate

  • Assignee

Above fields can be edited by opening the Issue dialog, or directly from the chart (except for due date). Of course, you can also change the issue dependency, which will affect the Issue’s links section by adding or removing “Blocks/Blocked by” links respectively (See: https://wisoft.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/GanttOnDemand/pages/2555920 section).

Screen configuration and Gantt Cloud

Jira uses so called Screens to group all available fields (or a subset of all available fields) and organize them for presentation to a user. Through screens, you can control what fields are displayed to the user during issue operations. Therefore, in order for Gantt Cloud to be able to perform edit operations on issue fields described above, an appropriate screen configuration is required.

When screen configuration isn’t allowing the App to edit a field, Gantt Cloud will inform you about that fact showing the following error message during an edit operation:

The easiest way to fix the error above, is to add the field that causing the problem to the Edit/View Issue Screen attached with your project. You can access screen configuration from Jira Settings (Jira settings → Issues → Screens), or, from the Project settings page (Projects → Your project → Project settings → Screens). In both cases you will end up on the configuration page below:

Please note, that all fields used by Gantt Cloud are already on the list in the above example. If that’s not the case, dropdown dialog at the bottom of the page can be used to add more. You can even create a custom tab and place there only these fields that are used by a particular add-on for better visibility.

Please check Atlassian’s Jira Cloud documentation to learn more about screen configuration.
